Contact lens cleaning solutions

A copolymer of a zwitterionic monomer and a hydrophobic monomer having a fluoroalkyl or silyl group has useful surface binding and biocompatibilising properties when used in aqueous solution, especially for cleaning, storing or soaking contact lenses. A preferred polymer is made by copolymerising 2-(methacryloyloxyethyl)-2'-(trimethylammonium)ethyl phosphate inner salt and a fluoroalkyl methacrylate in mole ratios 1:4-20:1.
