[Class 100 (ii)] In a guiding device for the ink-distributing rollers of a platen printing-press having guide rails on which run rolls attached to the ends of the rollers, these rolls are subjected to magnetic action at those places where they tend to slip on the rails, whereby a slip-free rolling of the rolls along the rails is rendered possible. The tendency to slip occurs at the places where the motion of the carriage supporting the rollers is reversed. The press frame 1 is provided on both sides of the composition 3 with the usual adjustable rails 6 over which run rolls 7 which are attached to the axles 8 of ink-distributing rollers 4, supported in the usual way by spring-controlled rods 9 carried in rocking arms 10 on both sides of the frame. At the lower end of each of the rails 6, there is provided a horse-shoe magnet 12 affixed thereto by screws 13 so that the pole surfaces of the magnets form elongations of the rails, and owing to the magnetic action the rolls 7 run without slip when their motion is reversed. The guide rails 6 and the attached magnets may be simultaneously adjusted by eccentrics 15 connected with one another by a link 14. Magnets may also be arranged at the upper end of the guide rails 6, in front of the place where the rollers 4 pass on to the ink cylinder 5. Bar magnets may be used on one or both sides of each of the ink rails or electro-magnets may be employed, the circuits of which are closed when necessary by the running rolls.</p> |
