摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish an efficient one-step process of direct styrene production from benzene and ethylene and/or ethane by using a zeolite catalyst ion- exchanged with a specific transition metal element. SOLUTION: The catalytic reactions between benzene and ethylene and/or ethane are carried out in the gas phase over a zeolite catalyst ion-exchanged with metal elements in groups 3-12 in the periodic table (preferably Fe, Pd and the like). In a preferred embodiment, a ZSM zeolite having the MFI structure can be selected as a zeolite catalyst. The zeolite used in the ion-exchange preferably bears an alkali metal cation as a cation because the ion-exchange rate can be increased. The water content of the benzene is <=100 ppm by weight, the feed molar ratio of benzene to ethylene and/or ethane is 2/1-10/1, the weight space molar velocity is set to 0.1-5, temperature is 500-650 deg.C, the pressure is 0.1-3 kg/cm<2> calculated as a partial pressure of the starting gas.
