PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a constitution of a small-sized and inexpensive optical communication device typically applied in infrared communications, which can be used concurrently for both notifying and light detecting purposes via switching operations of an optical communication cover, in addition to an optical communication function just, by mounting a single set of light-transmitting and receiving elements. SOLUTION: In this constitution of an optical communication device a light-emitting element 11 and a light-receiving element 12 are placed in cases 1 and 2 respectively, together with an optical signal transmitting/receiving window 6 which open to the case 1. Then an optical communication cover 14 for eliminating wavelength unnecessary for transmission and reception of optical signals to both elements 11 and 12 is integrated with a battery cover 3 that is can freely slide ably operated with respect to the case 1 in a way where the window 6 is freely openable. A cover 14 integrated with the cover 3 is placed between both the elements 11 and 12 and the window 6. A hole part 15 is prepared in parallel with the cover 14 and located against the window 6, with the cover 3 kept closed. Meanwhile, the cover 14 is located against the window 6 with the cover 3 and kept slightly open. |
