Lamp socket and cable arrangement

The lamp socket (10) fitted with an electric lamp (20) has a cap (30) fitted to it from beneath, with the current supply cable (40) clamped between them. The socket has a pair of depending side flanges defining a cable space and having retaining noses on their outside face for cooperating with coupling plates provided by the cap. The cap and the socket may each be provided with projecting walls extending into the cable space for engaging the inserted current supply cable, so that the latter is clamped between them.
