PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheath which allows the execution of a heat treatment for sterilization and preservation in the state of combining the sheath with a puncture needle, is capable of surely closing an internal flow passages only by the fingertip force of one hand and, therefore, has a good hemostatic property and is excellent in the insertability of the puncture needle, guide wire, etc., and a puncture needle assembly. SOLUTION: This sheath has a sheath body 1 which is formed with an insertion hole 22 along an axial line and of which the front end is inserted into the inner side of the body and the rear end side is arranged outside the body and a hub part 2 which is connected with the rear end of this sheath body 1 and is formed with an insertion port 20 communicating with the insertion hole 22 of the sheath body 1. In such a case, a tapered part 21 diminishing toward the insertion hole 22 and a shaft hole 54 communicating with the smallest inside diameter part 23 of the tapered part 21 are formed on the inside surface in mid-way of the flow passage from the insertion port 20 of the hub part 2 to the insertion hole 22 of the sheath body 1. A deformable member 28 which has the elasticity higher than the elasticity of the other part of the hub part 2 and is capable of substantially shutting off the shaft hole 54 by elastically deforming the shaft hole 54 by the pressing force from outward in a radial direction is included in the hub part 2. |
