PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce signal distortion caused by fiber nonlinearity and dispersion by comprising a semiconductor laser which allows broad band tuning, comprising an integrated internal void synthesis reflector, and adding a tuning voltage and pre-chirp. SOLUTION: A semiconductor laser 10 which allows broad band tuning comprises a gain section 12 and an internal void synthesis reflector section 14 integrated with it, and a current is supplied to the gain section 12 by a current driver 16 for generating an output signal. A DC voltage applied to the synthesis reflector section 14 by a bias source 18 is used for rough-tuning the carrier frequency of the output signal through control of phase of optical field of the void in laser, in addition, output signal is connected to a fiber with a tendency wherein the signal is internally subjected to distortion caused by non-linearity and dispersion. Further, the reflector section 14 is supplied with a pre-chirp signal of relatively low frequency and low voltage, generating relatively small wavelength deviation around a carrier frequency. |
