PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antibacterial material which shows highly enduring antibacterial performance and is outstandingly antibacterial even in a place where no light emission is present or under conditions that the level of light emission is low. SOLUTION: This antibacterial material is formed of a photosemiconductor (e.g. anatase-type titanium dioxide) coated with a porous substance (e.g. porous silica), and a metallic compound (e.g. silver nitrate) which has an antibacterial action borne by the porous part. In addition, this metallic compound having the antibacterial action may contain at least, one kind of metallic compound selected from a silver compound, a zinc compound and a copper compound. |
