PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the performance, specially, a performance regarding a data update process by applying this method to a RAID system data storage system which adopts a fast writing method. SOLUTION: This disk storage system is of RAID constitution and has a write buffer 6 having a storage capacity corresponding to a stripe, a buffer management table 7, and a controller 1, which stores logical blocks varied in data length in the write buffer 6 at need, delays the update of the logical block until the number of logical blocks stored in the write buffer 6 reaches N*K-1 at the time of the data update process, and writes sequentially N*K pieces of logical blocks, i.e., the N*K-1 pieces of logical blocks plus a logical address tag block through continuous writing operation by selecting successive storage areas out of free areas different from the areas where the old data are held. |
