A toroidal-type continuously variable transmission in which a stable reduction ratio can be obtained regardless of the driving condition by restraining the inclination of a support axis supporting a power roller against a trunnion. A support axis (5), rotatably supported against a trunnion (4) and rotatably supporting a roller body (30) of a power roller (2), is integrated with a fitting part (60) of a back plate (31) by press-fitting. As the back plate (31) is pressed against the trunnion (4) by a thrust force applied by the roller body (30) via a rolling body (57), the inclination of the support axis (5) relative to the trunnion (4) can be restrained, and the instability of a reduction ratio caused by the displacement of the rotation center of the roller body (30) toward an inclined rotating axis can be eliminated. To restrain the inclination of the support axis (5) relative to the trunnion (4), a multiple-row bearing may be used as a first bearing (34) supporting a first axis part (36) of the support axis (5) against the trunnion (4), or alternatively the support axis (5) may be fitted to the fitting part including an extending portion formed on the back plate (31) in a state of running fit or transition fit to be supported over a long distance in the axial direction.

|
