PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the lighting time and prevent the shortening of the life by carrying a current to filaments on both ends of a fluorescent discharge lamp simultaneously with power source input, setting the voltage between the ends slightly higher than a steady voltage to quickly light the lamp, automatically cutting a filament circuit after lighting, and also reducing the voltage between the ends. SOLUTION: In a fluorescent discharge tube 1, the secondary winding of a filament transformer 5 is connected so that its polarity is conformed to the direction composed with a power source voltage, whereby the terminal voltage prior to lighting of the fluorescent discharge tube 1 is increased by the composed voltage, and the discharge tube 1 is quickly lighted. After lighting, the terminal voltage of a stabilizing coil 3 is raised, a voltage operation relay 7 is operated to cut the current of the circuit of a filament 2 by the break contact 10 of the voltage operation relay 7, and a steady discharge is started. Accordingly, the lighting time can be shortened to about 0.1 second or less without shortening the life of the fluorescent discharge tube, and the waiting time from ON of a power source switch to lighting can be eliminated. |
