摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce color tints in a strict visual field angle without feeling an afterimage while maintaining the aperture rate of a conventional liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: Display pixels consisting of pixel electrodes 104, a common electrode 103, and active elements, scanning lines, and signal lines 102 are constituted on one transparent substrate, a liquid crystal layer is sandwiched between one substrate transparent and the other transparent substrate, and the pixel electrodes 104 and common electrode 103 are installed in parallel to each other to constitute the active matrix liquid crystal display device which can have the liquid crystal layer applied with an electric field substantially in parallel to the transparent substrates. Here, the pixel is shaped so as to apply an oblique electric field which is at 0 to 45 deg. to the normal of the pixel electrode 104 and common electrode 103 in a local area of the display pixel so that the orientation direction of the liquid crystal 301 in the display pixel at the time of no-voltage application is parallel to the pixel electrode 104 and common electrode 103 and the rotational direction of liquid crystal molecules at the time of voltage application is bidirectional.
