FIELD: relay protection. SUBSTANCE: gear measures reactive component of fault current in case of remote short-circuits and total phase current in case of close short-circuits as well as under conditions of self-starting of load. Gear makes it feasible to decrease time delays of protection means installed in series in network thanks to reduced errors in operations of time delay elements synchronized by network frequency and to diminish stepping of selectivity. Gear can be used both jointly with current transformers in the capacity of source of information on current magnitude and makes it possible to get rid of current transformers and use current pickups as source of information.
