The present invention is a unique multi-leaf rotating sign mechanism which incorporates a simplified multi-part drive shaft mechanism for rotating th e leafs. The drive shaft directly engages a system of pins and flats on the end of each l eaf to produce an intermittent rotation of the leafs so as to expose the desired messag es placed on the flats of the leafs in a step-wise fashion. The drive shaft also provides a feature to prevent turning of the leafs during the non-rotational portion of the sign's cyc le.
