Novel fused-ring quinolinecarboxylic acid derivatives exhibiting an inhibitory activity against the propagation of viruses, which are compounds represented by general formula (I) or pharmacologically acceptable salts thereof or esters of both, wherein R<1> is optionally substituted aryl, an optionally substituted heteroaromatic ring group or the like; R<2> and R<3> are each hydrogen or lower alkyl; X is O or S; and m is 2 or 3.
