PURPOSE:To remove residual charge while holding the insulating property of a dielectric substance by containing a surfactant in dielectric parts of a developer carrier or a boundary layer between the dielectric parts and a conductive part. CONSTITUTION:A developer carrier 20 completing development is rotated in an arrow direction and comes into contact with a toner supplying member 40. Residual toner in a non-image part which has not been developed is mechanically and electrically scraped and the dielectric parts are frictionally charged with electricity. In this case, the charge of the carrier 20 and that of toner due to the preceding development are frictionally uniformed and initialized. Toner carried by the member 40 is frictionally charged and electrostatically stuck to the dielectric parts of the carrier 20. Since the stuck toner forms a close electric field, the toner is strongly attracted to the carrier side and can not be easily separated. Since the surfactant is contained in the dielectric parts or the boundary layer between the dielectric parts and the conductor part, charge injection characteristics from the conductor part to the dielectric parts can be improved, and thereby organic charge is injected into the dielectric parts and electric power can not be easily applied to the outside of the carrier 20. |
