The fastener consists of an attachment (12), e.g. a split ring made from a flexible plastic, shaped to fit onto the article to be labeled, and a pair of hooks (15a, 15b) on the ends of projecting rods (16a, 16b). The two hooks are offset on the ring and can be squeezed together so that they overlap for insertion through a hole in a label, after which they move back to their original positions and keep the label in place.
