The apparatus has a glass container (6) for aromatic liquid (5) to be dispensed, a cylindrical impregnator (7) such as a wick or other porous body in the container and a fan (10) for facing a portion of the atmosphere over the impregnation to volatilize the aromatic. The fan is located beneath an opening within the body and thus generates an adjustable upward laminar flow between the container and the cylinder.
