The invention relates to a method of sawing raw wood 12, in which essentially horizontal and vertical saw blades 17, 18 are used. By means of the successively located blades 17, 18, the raw wood 12 is sawn into smaller oblong pieces 21. According to the method, the raw wood is placed in a fixed saw bench 11, following which the blades 17, 18 are moved in the longitudinal direction of the raw wood. Saw cuts are first made in the upper surface of the raw wood 12 by means of the vertical blades 18, and the horizontal blades 17 remove the pieces 21 over the entire length of the raw wood 12. The blades 17, 18 are moved in a return movement back to the start of the raw wood 12, following which the next layer of raw wood is sawn. The invention also relates to the saw arrangement that is used in the method.
