A rubber mix includes a catalytic antioxidant, an organic reducing-agent and an organic base consisting of a primary, secondary, or tertiary alkylamine, alkylol-amine or aralkylamine. The products have improved ageing and fatigue resistance. As catalytic antioxidants are mentioned aromatic secondary amines, and the reaction products of aromatic amines with ketones and aldehydes; diphenylamine ditolylamines, phenyl-naphthylamines, di-b naphthyl and diphenyl-paraphenylenediamine, the reaction product of acetaldol with a -naphthylamine, and of acetone with diphenylamine or aniline; and ethylene di-orthotolylamine. As reducing agents, pyrogallol, catechol, hydroquinone, chloro-, dichloro-, bromo-, diamyl- and hydroxy-hydroquinone, p-phenylene diamine, aminocresols, amino-phenols and methyl- and benzylderivatives thereof, 2-4 diaminophenol, p-hydroxy-di-phenylamine, 1-amino-2-naphthol-6-sulphonic acid and p-hydroxyphenylglycine or salts thereof may be used. Suitable organic bases are mono-, di- and tri-ethanolamines, di- and tri-butyl amines diamylamine and dibenzylamine. Suitable accelerators include the condensation product of mercaptobenzthiazole, benzyl chloride and hexamethylene tetramine and known sulphur containing accelerators. The sulphur content of the mix is preferably less than 2,5 per cent, and up to 60 per cent of carbon black may be incorporated.
