SYSTEM FOR REQUESTING REPLENISHMENT OF SUPPLIES FROM REMOTE STORAGE LOCATIONS AND GENERATING AND TRANSMITTING REPLENISHMENT ORDERS TO SUPPLIERS

A system and method for generating replenishment orders for supplies located in several storage locations is provided which comprises order request terminals located at each of the storage locations. The order request terminals are connected to a order computer to transmit item codes which correspond to items at the storage location. The order computer generates line items on a purchase order using each item code received from the different order request terminals and transmits the purchase order to one or more vendors. The order computer is programmable to determine if an order for that particular item has already been ordered and shipped and to defer transmission of another order for that particular item. The order computer receives status messages from vendors indicating when items are on back order.
