The rotor of a pressure sorting apparatus for sorting fiber suspensions, has a number of recesses (3) in the rotor outer mantle (2). Preferred Features: The outer mantle (2) of the rotor has a shape with rotational symmetry. The surface recesses (3) have a depth of at least 10 mm, in the shape of spherical or ellipsoid segments. The recesses (3) can also have a triangular cross-section. The leading edges of the recesses (3), in the direction of rotation, form abrupt shearing edges, with abrupt running edges at the trailing side. The abrupt leading edges of the recesses (3) are pitched at an angle of max. 15 deg to the rotor peripheral surface. The recess (3) length, in the peripheral direction of the rotor (4), is at least 10 times the recess depth, and the recess depth is at least 1.3 times the radial recess interval. The axial recess extension (a) is max. 200 mm. The recesses (3) are not interconnected in the rotor. At least some of the recesses (3) have connecting openings for diluting water. The recesses (3) are distributed at the rotor mantle surface (2) at a level of at least 20 per m<2>.
