Solid catalyst for homo- or copolymerization of alpha-olefins to homo- or copolymers

The problems of unsatisfactory stereospecificity and extremely low yield encountered in previous olefin polymerization can be solved by using a solid catalyst-component in which the electron donor shows no safety and health problems, ensures easy and economic preparation, and shows high activity in the preparation of olefin polymers of high stereospecificity. A solid catalyst-component for olefin polymerization contains Ti, Mg, and a compound of formula (I): R<1> and R<2> = 1-20 C linear or branched hydrocarbon R<3> = 3-20 C alicyclic hydrocarbon and n = 1-10. An Independent claim is included for the preparation of olefin polymers in the presence of the catalyst.
