The applicator comprises a head part (1) fitted with a carrier element (2) for taking up substances of any kind and having a handle (3) fitted on the head part. The carrier element can be an absorbent sponge, fleece pad or similar stuck on the head part or attached by a releasable touch and close or sliding fastener or similar. The head part has a closure lid engaging in a groove round the head part. The handle has a holder (9) for fitting on a bottle.
