Uretdione group containing isophorone diisocyanate polyaddition product is useful for the production of polyurethane resin powders for paint

A uretdione group containing isophorone diisocyanate-polyol adduct is formed from an uretdione group containing isophorone diisocyanate having an NCO content of 22-31 wt.% without prior removal of unreacted isophorone diisocyanate. A uretdione group containing polyaddition product (I) is prepared from uretdione group containing isophorone diisocyanate having an NCO content of 22-31 wt.% and diols and/or polyols having more than 2 hydroxy groups and/or chain extenders with 2 and/or more hydroxy groups and the obtained addition product optionally contains totally or partially irreversible and/or reversible blocking agents. The isophorone diisocyanate is reacted to an NCO content of 22-31 wt.% using a catalyst of formula (1), (2) or (3) and is reacted with the diol, polyol and/or chain extender without prior removal of unreacted isophorone diisocyanate whereby the NCO/OH ratio is 1-0.5 - 1:0.95 and/or 0.5:1-0.95. R = 1-9C alkyl. An Independent claim is also included for the produced polyaddition product.
