A vacuum container (4) comprised of a number of sections (6) to form an approximately ring-shaped arrangement. Each section (6) has an encircling sheet-metal collar (22) at its section edges (24) facing an adjacent section. Each section (6) is joined vacuum-tight to each of its adjacent sections (6) via the corresponding sheet metal collar (22). Each collar (22) forms an approximate right angle (26) with the inner surface of the respective section (6). More specifically, in each section (6) is arranged a magnetic coil (16) suitable for superconductor operation.
