A method of forming an animal feed block which comprises the steps of mixing at least one animal feed component with magnesium sulfate and reactive magnesium oxide to form a composition, adjusting the water level of the composition to a level to allow the composition to be poured into a mould, allowing the composition to at least partially set in the mould.
