Collection tank and pump unit for pumping of particle-laden impure cooling medium from floor-standing machine tool station

The unit has a collecting tank (24) housing a pump (34) offset from the tanks' center axis. The pump has an inlet above the lower center section of the tank. The pipe outlet is orientated tangentially to the cylindrical wall (26) of the tank so that the impure cooling medium flows downwards around the inclined bottom section of the tank into the lower center section with a swirling action. The inlet of a pipe receives particle-laden impure cooling medium from the machine tool station (14) and ejects them through its outlet into the collecting tank. A return pump interacts with an overflow tank to direct excess cooling medium back to the collecting tank.
