The counter-stamp plate making process involves using high-pressure water jets to produce a number of stamping and fluting channels in a surface facing a sector of steel strip. The high-pressure water jets only engrave the stamping and fluting channels in the surface of the counter-stamp plate. Regardless of the thickness of the counter-stamp plate, the stamping and fluting channels are engraved to such a depth that the residual thickness of the material between the under-surface of the plate and the bottom of a channel is at least 0.15 mm.
