The casing (2) consists of carbon fibre reinforced plastics, in which flanges (3,4) are fixed for attaching an X-ray image intensifier (1). Preferably, the surface (5) of the casing includes a metal layer (6), which screens the magnetic field. Metal powder may be included in the carbon fibre reinforced plastic for screening the magnetic field. The metal layer on the casing surface may be Mumetal (RTM) or a NiFe alloy.
