SEALED BATTERY AND ITS MANUFACTURE

A sealed battery wherein a metallic reinforcing plate (3) is welded fixedly to that portion of the internal surface of a battery case (1) near an opening part, and an insulating resin gasket (2) and a sealing member (5) incorporating an explosion-proof mechanism for a battery are put on the metallic reinforcing plate (3) sequentially, whereby eliminating the conventional need for forming a recessed part by caulking in the upper part of the side surface of the battery case (1) to provide the sealed configuration of the battery capable of eliminating wasteful space for increasing the capacity of the battery and securing the reliability for an explosion-proof mechanism and leakage prevention measure.
