The upper cymbal plate (6) is moved back by a return spring into the opened starting position after contact with the lower cymbal plate (7). By means of a switch device (20), the cymbal plates are brought from the opened starting position into a contact starting position and the lift system is so controlled that by operation of the foot pedal (8) the upper cymbal plate rises vertically. The switch device is operated with the foot or via a vertically movable lever. It adjusts a crank drive arranged between the foot pedal and a draw bar (9) moving the upper cymbal plate. The crank drive is formed as a crank disc (21).
