PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pNa glass electrode having a higher Na ion selectivity and suffering less interference with hydrogen ions in an aqueous solution than those of a conventional one. SOLUTION: This pNa glass electrode comprises a glass film which constitutes the pNa glass electrode and is an Na-containing oxide glass. Furthermore, the glass film is prepared so as to provide <=1.3 absorbance per cm glass thickness in an absorption band-1 (νOH is 3,400-3,600 cm<-1> ) without any absorption band-2 (νOH is 2,800-2,900 cm<-1> ) in the absorption band-1 and the absorption band-2 which are OH absorption bands in an infrared absorption spectrum and >=50 mV/pNa gradient in a straight-line region of electrode potential (mV)- pNa.
