PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective image forming apparatus wherein each of the elements has no difficulty, excessive quality with respect to a desired output speed can be eliminated and desired performance can be readily achieved. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus 1 comprises a heating/melting means 20 for heating and melting solid type heat-meltable ink 10, an ink holding means 30 for absorbing and holding the ink and a heating/recording means 50. The ink holding means 30 is of a porous member having multiple holes penetrating through the member in the thickness direction. Parameters P, r, η, v satisfy an equation of (P.r<2> )/(η.v)>=1.18×10<-2> wherein P [N/m<2> ] represents a pressure for pressing the solid type heat-meltable ink 10 against the ink holding means 30, r [m] represents an average radius of the holes on the ink holding means 30, η [N.s/m<2> ] represents a viscosity of the ink when being heated to be melted and v [m/s] represents a conveyance speed of a recording medium 40. |
