PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hydrophilic polyolefin nonwoven fabric excellent in alkali resistance, liquid absorbing property and liquid retaining property and suitable as a separator for alkali electric cells by impregnating and fixing a terminal- modified polyolefin into a polyolefin nonwoven fabric. SOLUTION: This polyolefin nonwoven fabric is obtained by impregnating and fixing a terminal-modified polyolefin such as a sulfonated polyolefin, e.g. a terminal-sulfonated polypropylene, preferably in an amount of 3-30 wt.% (based on polyolefin nonwoven fabric) into a polyolefin nonwoven fabric. Furthermore, the separator for alkali electric cells is preferably produced from the hydrophilic nonwoven fabric. |
