PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the retrieval of a relevant object from a retrieval object image even when its position and size are different from a designated object. SOLUTION: A division part 108 divides a rectangular object area into n×m pieces of blocks. In the unit of (n) pieces of blocks, an extraction part 106 extracts profile data to a Y axis in the retrieval object image concerning the representative hue value of these blocks and detects a clamp area where the distribution is overlapped on the respective profile data of (n) pieces of relevant blocks. The extraction part 106 extracts profile data to an X axis concerning the representative hue value of (n) pieces of relevant blocks while defining the area on the retrieval object image in the detected clamp area as an object, and a retrieval part 109 detects a clamp area where the distribution is continuously adjacent on the respective relevant profile data. By performing this processing (m) times while switching the unit of (n) pieces of blocks, the designated object is retrieved from the retrieval object image.
