[Class 75 (iv)] In a vehicle lamp fitted with a front extension comprising downwardly sloping transverse partitions disposed one above the other, the partitions are arranged in two or more tiers, one behind the other, with the partitions of one tier above or below those of an adjacent tier. The partitions may have reflecting undersurfaces and non-reflecting upper surfaces, those in one tier sloping at a different angle from those in an adjacent tier. The front extension may be of circular or oval cross-section, and it may be formed integrally with or be removably attached to the lamp casing. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the partitions 8, 9 are arranged in two tiers inside a tubular front extension 3 which has a slotted rear flange 5 whereby it is removably attached to a clamping ring 4 secured to the front of the lamp casing 1. The extension 3 may be provided with an opening 10 to permit some light to pass downwardly to the near side curb. In the form shown in Fig. 4, the partitions extend sideways through openings formed in the sides of the extension 3, whilst in the form shown in Fig. 5, the partitions are extended a sufficient distance sideways to enable the extension to be dispensed with. In these two last forms, the partitions are supported by rods 11 and are spaced apart by distance washers 12.</p> |
