PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor for hardly having effect of a string thermal impact to a sealer layer and a detecting element by scarcely bringing about the impact at body metal fitting side even in the case of applying a water splash or the like in a high temperature state. SOLUTION: The gas sensor 1 comprises cylindrical body metal fittings 3, a detecting element 2 disposed at an inside of the fittings 3 in a state that a detecting part D is formed at an end and projected from one end of the fittings 3 to detect a component to be detected in a gas to be measured, an outer cylinder 18 axially inserted at the other end of the fittings 3 from an opening firmed at one axial end side to form a superposed part to the fittings 3 and a connecting part 35 for hermetically sealingly connecting the fittings 3 to the cylinder 18 at the superposed part. A protruding part 15 protruding outward is formed along a circumferential direction on an outer periphery of the fittings 3 at the other end side, and ends 18a, 18b of the cylinder 18 at the opening side cover at least parts of the surface of the part 15. |
