PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a reduction inhibitor or an increasing agent for the number of helper T cells in AIDS suppressing the reduction of or increasing the number of helper T cells detectable by HIV infection. SOLUTION: This reduction inhibitor or increasing agent for the number of helper T cells in AIDS and is obtained by drying a fruit body or a cultured mycelium of Grifola frondosa and extracting the driven mycelium with hot water at 90-140 deg.C.
