PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reproduce a saturated image area as a natural image even when the saturated image area is included in an image. SOLUTION: Based on an image signal inputted from an image signal input means 1 and logarithmically transformed, a saturated image area detecting means 3 detects the saturated image area. A color estimating means 4 estimates a color concerning the detected saturated image area and a correcting means 5 corrects the gradation and/or density of the saturated image area so as to reproduce the saturated image area as the natural image. The corrected image signal is reproduced as a visible image at an output means 9 through image processing at an image processing means 6. |
