PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which the fluctuation proportional to the length of a roll paper to be fed and the fluctuation occurring uniformly during single image formation are separated and a roll paper of desired length is matched with a roll paper being cut actually based on these data. SOLUTION: Two kinds of roll papers 4 of different length are cut and the length thereof is measured. A carrying speed containing fluctuation proportional to the length of the roll paper being fed and the distance from a cutter 6 to a positioning means 7 containing fluctuation occurring uniformly during single image formation are separated from these data and a control means 8 is set such that the roll paper of desired length is matched with the roll paper being cut actually based on these data.
