PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for decomposing a surfactant which is applicable to the treatment of wastewater such as sewage, and a surfactant decomposing agent. SOLUTION: A method is provided in which a surfactant decomposing agent consisting of an amorphous alloy such as a nickel alloy and a carrier coated with the amorphous alloy is obtained, and a surfactant can be decomposed easily by bringing the agent into contact with a liquid containing a surfactant without being irradiated with light such as ultraviolet rays and sunlight.
