PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine starting device which can enhance the reliability of detection by eliminating errors in the detection of engine start. SOLUTION: An engine starting device has voltage dividing resistors R1, R2 generating the divided values (C), (D) of a battery voltage (A), a variable resistor VR1, a capacitor C1 holding the divided value (C) of the battery voltage (A) by means of a switching element Q1 which is turned on just before a sel- motor is actuated, and a comparator U1 by which the divided value (D) lower than the divided value (C) by a predetermined difference value is compared with a value held in the capacitor C1, to see whether or not the divided value (D) has exceeded the value held. Since the time when a battery voltage value obtained just before the actuation of the sel-motor is exceeded by the predetermined difference value is detected, the rate of errors in the detection of engine start is reduced, and the reliability of detection is enhanced. Since the value is not detected for comparison unless it exceeds the battery voltage value by the predetermined difference value, detecting errors caused by noises and the like can be prevented effectively. |
