PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely bring plural subjects having different subject distance into focus without being influenced by the positions of the subjects in the case of driving and controlling a swing mechanism turning an input medium for an optical image with a fixed turning center as center based on an image signal obtained from an image pickup element so that plural subjects may be brought into focus. SOLUTION: In this image pickup device equipped with the swing mechanism turning the input medium for the optical image with the fixed turning center as center; the maximal value of the high frequency component of the image signal obtained from the image pickup element with respect to a lens focusing position from close range to infinity is detected, and the swing mechanism is driven and controlled so that an interval between the lens focusing positions of plural maximal values corresponding to plural subjects having the different subject distance is made to be minimum, furthermore, the swing mechanism is driven and controlled so that the maximal value is made to be the greatest thereafter. |
