PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To design an insulating layer as thin as possible by providing a non- colored insulating layer and a colored layer having specified thicknesses successively on a conductor having a specified outer diameter. SOLUTION: A colored superfine insulated wire 1 has a non-colored insulating layer 3 provided on a conductor 2 and a colored layer 4 provided thereon as the outermost layer. The outer diameter of the conductor 2 is set to 50μm or less. The thickness of the non-colored insulating layer 3 is set to 1-10μm, the thickness of the colored layer is set to 1-5μm, and an insulating layer is constituted by the both. Since the non-colored insulating layer 3 is formed of an insulating coating material having no impurity such as pigment or dye mixed thereto, a reduction in dielectric breakdown voltage is never caused, and a necessary dielectric breakdown voltage can be held even in a thin design. Accordingly, the colored layer 4 can only play the role of coloring the circumferential part of the colored superfine insulated wire 1 to a recognizable degree since the insulating property can be held by the non-colored insulating layer 3, and the insulating layer can be designed extremely thinly.
