摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow even a concave cell to be sealed in a flat state or slightly in a convex state after filling and to maintain uniformity of display on a panel surface by regarding a gap length between substrates in the direction normal to a reference plane as a variable which can vary according to a position within the substrate surface and a step of the manufacturing process. SOLUTION: This manufacturing method comprises a process for forming a cell having substrates 1, 2 and a peripheral material 3, a process for filling between the substrates with an electro-optical material, and a process for sealing the cell. A gap between the substrates in the direction normal to a reference flat plane is regarded as a variable which can vary according to a position within the substrate and a step of the manufacturing process. Assuming a reference gap as d0 (μm), a substrate gap as D1 (μm) which shows a maximum deviation before the gap between the substrates is filled with the electro-optical material, a substrate gap as D2 (μm) which shows a maximum deviation in the filling process of the electro-optical material, and a substrate gap as D3 (μm) which shows a maximum deviation after the cell is sealed, then the relations D1 =(0.5 to 1.5) d0 , D2 /D1 >=1.5 and 0.9.d0<=D3 <=1.2.d0 .
