PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for preparing a chromium catalyst for the production of polyethylenes. SOLUTION: This process comprises the steps of: providing a catalyst support selected among silica, silica-titania, and silica-zirconia; reacting the support with at least one chromium salt compound selected among acetylacetonechromium (III), chromium (III) acetate, chromium (III) oxalate, and chromium (III) stearate; thereafter reacting the support with another alkylaluminum compound or chromium salt to prepare a catalyst having a silica-alumina support and impregnated with chromium. The catalyst composition contains 0.4-1.5 wt.%, based on the chromium catalyst, chromium and 0.5-4 wt.%, based on the chromium catalyst, aluminum. |
