PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a converter that processes an image through the employment of a memory with a comparatively small capacity without the need for an excess memory capacity. SOLUTION: The image size converter consists of a horizontal direction image size conversion section 10, an image compression memory 12 and a vertical direction image size conversion section 14. Pixels of a CCIR601 image as an input image are given to an input terminal 10a of the horizontal direction image size conversion section 10. The horizontal direction image size conversion section 10 applies horizontal direction image size conversion to the input image. An output of the horizontal direction image size conversion section 10 is stored in the image compression memory 12. Furthermore, the vertical direction image size conversion section 14 reads the image stored in the image compression memory 12 and applies vertical direction image size conversion to the read image and conducts moving image compression processing in compliance with the H.261. |
