PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material improved in the preservability of a recording image, especially, in the plasticizer resistance and oil resistance thereof, generating no background fog and enhanced in recording density and recording sensitivity by adding at least one kind of a compound having an epoxy group and a specific compound. CONSTITUTION:A thermal recording material utilizes the color reaction of a colorless or light-colored basic dye and a developer capable of forming a color upon the contact with said dye and contains at least one kind of a compound having an epoxy group and a compound represented by general formula (I). The compound having an epoxy group is selected from a novolac type epoxy resin, a bisphenol A type epoxy resin and a diphenylsulfonic acid derivative having an epoxy group. The compound represented by the general formula (I) is usually added to a thermal recording layer and, concretely, dibenzyl oxalate is pref. The use amount of the compound represented by the general formula (I) is about 10-1000 pts.wt., pref., 50-500 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the basic dye. |
