The object (2) is fixed in a clamp between two angled surfaces, preferably slanting symmetrically with respect to the clamp closure direction. A camera (3) is used to carry out a first scan of the shape or position of one side of the object, then the object is rotated through 180 deg. and a second scan of the opposition side is carried out. Any relative movement between a top and bottom part of the object, e.g. cast or hollow-forged parts, results in the clamp jaws skewing, and this skew angle is used to measure any displacement between the two parts. |
